Hailed as a “master colorist,” “titanic force” and “a complete triumph,” pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet makes his anticipated return, where he will reunite with NWS Artistic Director Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas at the New World Center. From over 70 alums and six film scores, Thibaudet commands the keyboard in Maurice Ravel’s virtuoso Concerto. The unbridled passion and tragedy of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet gets a vivid musical depiction in Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Fantasy Overture and Dmitri Shostakovich’s final symphony is a mysterious carnival of sound.
